Bulldogs Complete a Senior Night Comeback

On Monday. The Bulldogs squared off against the Braintree Wamps for a cold and windy senior night showdown at Memorial field. The game meant everything for the Bulldogs who had everything on the line; needing to win their last four games to make the playoffs.

Despite needing the win the Bulldogs did not come out very strong and Braintree was the team playing with more passion.

A goal from (Sr.) Ryan Lodge with just over 4 minutes to play in the 1st quarter put the Bulldogs up 1-0, however the Wamps responded with two unanswered goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The score remained the same for nearly the entire 3rd quarter until with just 1:30 left Ryan Lodge buried his second of the game for the equalizer.

But right as it seemed as though Canton might start to hit its stride, Braintree scored with just 27 seconds in the quarter to give them a 3-2 edge going into the 4th.

With just 12 minutes left for the Bulldogs to keep their playoff hopes alive, the team’s desperation was apparent. However, Braintree as a team was playing energetic excited lacrosse and their zone defense was nothing less than suffocating to the Bulldog’s attack.

With just 5 minutes remaining the Bulldogs remained down 3-2, but a penalty committed by the Wamps gave them a man advantage that they so desperately needed.

They did not squander the opportunity.

(Soph.) Mike Shaw tied the game 3-3 shortly into the penalty and it seemingly took the wind out of Braintree’s sails as (Sr.) Dan Dillon scored right after to make it 4-3 giving the Bulldogs their first lead since the 1st quarter.

Mike Shaw scored once more thereafter making a score of 5-3 to put the icing on the cake of a fantastic comeback for Canton.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-9 on the season and will look to try and make the playoffs with wins against Kelley-Rex foes Taunton (0-13) and Oliver Ames (6-9) before ending the season in Abington.

What. A. Game.

Well actually to be honest the first three quarters were less than ideal for the Dogs’, Braintree was flying around and clearly the more passionate team.

I am not saying that I was doubting them… BUT things weren’t looking good

But an electric fourth quarter with some late game heroics made the game one to remember.

The student section had a decent showing (in hurricane-like conditions no less) and while the noise level could have been a little better there are a few awards to be given out…

Line of the Game: “The Jig is up!”

Despite the return of the infamous “Canton is coming!” line (see    ) another line from Joey Pacitti gets the nod after the Dogs’ furious comeback.

Because the Jig was most definitely up.

Ric Flair of the Game: Braintree Goalie

I’m all for a little showmanship but if you are going to do it…you better back it up.

WOOOOOOOO….L. (obligatory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOXm7_GDp5M )

Roll Dogs. NNNN
